What We Do

The Dream Trust UK is proud to be supporting Big Change Charity

The Dream Trust’s aim is to raise significant awareness of the potential to improve the social mobility, academic achievements, and mental health of young people. We believe that through encouragement from teachers we can bind determination, build new friendships and inspire interest in our wider society. We are proud to be supporting Big Change who we believe is at the forefront of making this difference in our society today.

Careers Help

The Dream Trust UK has attracted influencers from the political, business, legal, sporting, television and art worlds who all aim to ignite the message that people can help transform confidence levels in youngsters from challenging backgrounds. They act as springboards to fulfil dreams and aspirations and are role models to nurture the growth mind-set principle that Big Change champions.

Due to this we are keen to offer young people support in order to prepare them for the job market and by the provision of work experience placements and mentoring opportunities.

Services can include:

  • CV writing
  • Interview training and techniques
  • Access to work experience and internship placements
  • Advice and information for applying to academic and vocational courses
  • Advice and information about government support/grants for vulnerable people or those on low incomes.

Phone Kiosk Careers Hubs

Over the last few years British Telecom have decommissioned the use of public payphones housed in the iconic traditional red kiosk which has been famous on our streets for many decades.

They have offered local communities around the UK to adopt their local phone kiosk and change its use/convert them for the benefit of the local community.

The Dream Trust UK is advocating the conversion of these kiosks into a careers library and information centre for young people in each community.

We have applied to convert a disused red phone kiosk in Pinner, Middlesex and have worked through the entire process from applying to BT to buy the kiosk for £1 and then compose, compile and submit drawings for the conversion of the kiosk using a professional architect and submitting applications to the local authority for the necessary consents. In this case we had to apply for Listed Building Consent and planning permission for change of use.

We can supply our drawings, ideas, heritage statement and planning application to any community in the UK wishing to convert their kiosk into a careers library and information centre which could potentially save thousands in architect and planning advice fees.

If you are interested in turning your local red BT kiosk into a careers library, please contact us on mail@dreamtrust.co.uk

The launch of the Pinner careers hub kiosk and photographs of the finished conversion will be provided when the works are complete.

What We Do

Big Change

Big Change wants to see a society where every young person is set up to thrive in life, not just exams.

So that even in times of constant change, every child will feel emboldened to contribute positively to the world around them.

They believe that this is everyone’s business. All parts of society, including parents, employers, and civil society, need to work together to support young people and schools.

To make this happen, Big Change backs pioneers and projects that deliver bold approaches on the frontline for young people, parents and teachers. It creates a community to support them, and activates diverse allies who want to reimagine and transform education. So far, they’ve supported 36 projects working to support young people, parents, carers, and teachers, engaged 1.2 million children and young people and supported 143,000 teachers and adults.

This work has never been more urgent. The pandemic has exposed the cracks created by the existing injustices in the way we currently do things. It is time for big change.
